Latest edition of the Petition Insider: Petition Insider April 19.
With overall budgets being tightened in every possible way, districts are cutting classroom supply budgets to the bare minimum (or below).
I am currently volunteering at a non-profit called Operation: Kid Equip. I’m also serving as their Vice President of School Outreach. This organization provides tremendous support to Mount Clemens. They have provided materials to classroom teachers, students, libraries and district events…easily close to $100,000 worth.
Operation: Kid Equip has MANY openings available for schools with 70% or higher free/reduced lunch numbers to visit their Teachers’ Annex. While we have made multiple attempts to reach principals to share the news, the information is obviously not making it to the teachers (and students) that need it the most.
Please take a moment to review the attached materials as well as the organization’s website.

Keep your eye on SB 1040 that is proposing DRASTIC changes to your pension. There are changes in the proposed bill for both active and retired members that will increase costs that will impact your yearly earnings. I have attached some talking points regarding this legislation. For more information, go to the MEA website at mea.org. Remember it is NOT the District or the Association that is causing much of the issues facing school employees today but the legislators in Lansing.

Again, thank you for your time, participation, and contributions as we work together to make our association and public education stronger.
